Following the weekend trip to San Sebastian to play the opening game of the LaLiga season the players went through coronavirus tests and one positive result came out.
Real Madrid's Martin Ødegaard has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Spanish programme Onda Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Ødegaard reported as Covid-19 positive
The channel has stated that after the standard tests carried out on the squad members upon arrival from San Sebastián, the Norwegian was found to be positive. The midfielder trained with the team on Tuesday before the test results were known, so the protocol deems that the other players will now have to undergo new PCR tests to rule out more being infected.
After Mariano contracted the virus at the end of July, if confirmed, this would be the second positive case within the Real Madrid squad. Now, the young footballer must isolate himself at home for the appropriate quarantine period
Ødegaard tested positive for Covid yesterday after the return from San Sebastian. Real Madrid is waiting for a second test before confirmation.
As many Covid control tests turn out to be 'false negatives', Ødegaard has been isolated at home just in case where a second test was conducted earlier & now awaiting results.
Everyone else present in the Real Madrid vs Sociedad, except Ødegaard, tested negative yesterday.
Today we'll know the test results of Real Madrid's squad & coaching staff. It was the tests on the Sociedad squad that came out all negative.
Ødegaard will be in quarantine for the next ten days or until he tests negative again.
Sociedad are aware of Ødegaard's positive result and say all their players tested negative after the match vs Real Madrid.
Since Ødegaard trained with everyone yesterday the other Real Madrid players will have to go through another round of new tests. After Mariano in July, Martin is the 2nd Real Madrid to test positive.
