Tottenham beat's Chelsea in Carabao Cup!

Tottenham beat Chelsea in a penalty shootout in the League Cup to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

Chelsea lost in a penalty shootout after retaining the lead for most of the match.  Chelsea took the lead in the first half through a goal by Timo Werner.  It was also Werner's first goal for Chelsea.  This is the first time Mourinho has beaten a team coached by Frank Lampard.

But Tottenham, who woke up in the second half, often attacked Chelsea in the face of goal but the goal alone did not fall.  Chelsea, meanwhile, missed two golden opportunities.  Tottenham then equalized in the 83rd minute through Eric Lamela.

Mason Mount misses the decisive penalty meaning Tottenham advance to quarters.

Sergio Reguilón, the £27m signing from Real Madrid, overcame a dreadful start and he will enjoy the role that he played in Lamela’s goal – sparking panic inside the Chelsea area with a cross from the left – while Eric Dier excelled in central defence and Steven Bergwijn was lively.
