OFFICIAL: Real Madrid and Lucas Vazquez sign three-year extension....

The winger will stay at the club.

Real Madrid and Lucas Vazquez have signed a three-year contract extension just a month before his previous deal was set to expire, the club confirmed on their official website.

His role within Carlo Ancelotti’s squad is not clear. Vazquez is a good asset as a right-back because of Carvajal’s recent history with injuries, but Odriozola managed to complete solid performances during the last few weeks of the season.

Lucas Vázquez accepted a 10% salary reduction for the first year of his new contract.

He has become the second Real Madrid player to have renewed his contract, after Luka Modric, whose previous deal would also have come to an end this summer.

The Spaniard will play under Carlo Ancelotti - who is set to be appointed as the new coach - for the first time in his career, as he returned to Real Madrid from his loan spell at Espanyol in 2015, after the Italian coach was dismissed by the club.
